Five Fall Wardrobe Staples that can be Transitioned into Winter

Hello and Happy Friday! I can’t believe how fast Halloween came and went. Josh and I last minute dressed up as Tiger Woods and Serena Williams, but I had 8 am class the next day so we had a low key night of handing out candy. What did you do for Halloween? Anyway, now that Halloween has passed I am in complete Thanksgiving and Christmas mode!

With Black Friday and holiday sales coming up I thought I would share with you some fall wardrobe essentials that I have been wearing non-stop. The best part is that they can all be easily transitioned into winter.

Hunter rain boots

I cannot begin to explain how amazed I am by these boots. Not only are they comfortable and keep your feet dry from rain or snow, but I have found so many great ways to style them. My personal favorite is styled with a dress or skirt, which is what I wore to the pumpkin patch a few weeks back. They are an investment piece but the investment is well worth it based on how much wear you can get out of them. When the weather turns colder you can pair them with jeans and thick socks to keep your feet warm and dry.

Pile Vest

Vests have always been a favorite layering piece for me. In years past I have bought a black down vest and a quilted cream vest and this year I added to my collection with this pile fleece vest from L.L. Bean (I also love this one from Patagonia). They can be worn on top of a t-shirt on warmer days and layered on top of a jacket for colder days. Just make sure you size up if you plan on wearing lots of bulky layers underneath. On our recent trip to Aspen I dressed it up by pairing it with a skirt and my hunter boots. For a more casual look pair with leggings and tennis shoes. I especially love this vest for hiking or other outdoors activities.

Wool Coat

I have been on the hunt for a nice wool coat, that’s not too expensive, for a long time. My prayers were finally answered with this red J. Crew wool coat I picked up a couple weeks ago. Personally I love the bright red color that will also be perfect for Christmas time. If bright colors aren’t your thing it also comes in a few other colors. I wore it layered over a midi dress last weekend but like I said, I can’t wait to wear this around the holidays.

Corduroy Skirt

If you haven’t noticed all of these items can be mixed and matched, which is exactly what I have been doing all fall long. A corduroy skirt pairs perfectly with the hunter rain boots and a vest. I also love wearing it with a dressier shirt and booties for church. Tights are also a good option for when it gets chillier outside. I wore this mustard colored corduroy skirt to the pumpkin patch, and it also comes in a maroon color.

Chambray Button Down

Yet another item that can be dressed up or down. During the colder months I love layering a sweater on top for a preppier, put together look. This J. Crew chambray button down is inexpensive and flattering.

Sincerely,

Cara
