Fall is my favorite time of year, I know shocker! Me and every other girl on planet earth. Today is the first day of October and the weather is actually starting to feel like fall, so today I am going to share with you my fall bucket list.

1. Go apple picking

This is number one on my list because it’s my favorite fall activity and a fall tradition for me. Last year we went apple picking at Jenkins Apple Farm in Penrose and we already have a trip planned back this week! You can read about my apple picking experience from last year here. Now I just have to find an outfit as cute as these overalls to wear this year.

2. Attend a fall festival

Fall festival or October Fest, it doesn’t really matter. All that matters is that you are surrounded with people who love fall as much as you do!

3. Take a fall foliage drive

I already checked this one off my list with our trip to aspen last weekend, but there’s no rules about repeating! I can honestly say that the Rocky Mountains are one of the most beautiful places to look at fall leaves. If you can’t make it to the mountains, grab a cup of hot coffee and drive with the windows down looking for the perfect fall tree around town.

4. Make a homemade pie

Everything tastes better when it’s homemade. Better yet, take apples from apple picking and make a homemade apple pie or apple crisp. Not only does everything taste better homemade, but everything tastes better when it’s hand picked fresh. Double bonus!

5. Go to a pumpkin patch

It doesn’t matter that a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch costs 10x more than a pumpkin from the grocery store, what matters is the experience. For me that means taking a hayride out to the pumpkin patch and wondering around aimlessly until I find the perfect pumpkin. What can I say, I’m a picky pumpkin picker (say that five times fast).

6. Host a Halloween movie night

My personal favorites are Hocus Pocus and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Apple cider, popcorn, and candy corn are NOT optional.

7. Attend a football game

Whether it’s going to a high school, college or NFL game, fall is never complete without a little football…. or a lot. Going to football games always reminds me of high school homecoming week. Bundle up and root for the home team!

8. Go for a hike in the crisp fall air

I have already checked this off (more than once) and will probably go on a couple more hikes before the season is over. My favorite part is stepping on the dried up crunchy leaves.

9. Make homemade soup using only farmers market ingredients

My favorite is butternut squash soup. Your local farmers market should have all the ingredients you need to make a delicious pot of soup!

10. Curl up with a good book and a cozy sweater

Something about a gloomy day always makes me want to curl up in front of a fireplace with a good book. On my reading list this fall are Girl Wash Your Face and to finish reading Factfullness. A cozy sweater and fuzzy socks are highly recommended.

11. Pack a fall picnic

I recommend you combine this with hiking or a walk in the park. A fall picnic would not be complete without apple cider, a cheese board and pumpkin seed trail mix.

12. Send your loved ones notes telling them you are thankful for them

Fall is a time to reflect on all the things you are grateful for and what better way to do just that then by sending your loved ones notes. Personally I think hand written is better, or better yet a handmade card!

I would love to know what your favorite fall activities are. Comment below!

Sincerely,

Cara
